Bret Easton Ellis and Jennifer Egan both have new books out that examine Gen X (my generation) at mid-life. (Doesn't "mid-life" sound so much better than "middle aged"?) I'm not a big fan of Ellis, but I don't know that I'll be able to resist catching up with Julian and Clay in their 40s. And Egan's book has had lots of buzz on Twitter.
This article from Taylor Antrim at The Daily Beast provides an excellent summary of both. What do you think? Are these on your list, fellow Gen X-ers? (
